Making space for immaterial art

We're just one day away from the beginning of Terra Comunal - MAI, the first time in the world that MAI will function with all of its components. The exhibition will take place in São Paulo, from March 10 to May 10, and is an invitation for the audience to experience the Abramovic Method. It will also feature eight Brazilian performance artists presented by MAI and is curated by Marina Abramovic, Lynsey Peisinger, and Paula Garcia.

SESC Pompeia, a lively center for culture, arts, and leisure housed in an old refrigerator factor and re-designed by architect Lina Bo Bardi in 1977, is the chosen site for Terra Comunal - MAI. With a vibrant energy all its own, the space is versatile enough to host numerous types of immaterial art and long durational works. The venue’s design is in complete harmony with the exhibition.

SESC Pompeia fosters synergy between body & mind. It’s a place where people go to exercise, socialize, and engage in creative activities. Terra Comunal - MAI, will occupy this space of art and knowledge for the next two months. Immersed in this environment, we are eagerly preparing for tomorrow’s opening.

The installation is now complete.
Experience Terra Comunal - MAI beginning tomorrow, March 10.
